Rotarians are business and professional leaders who take an active role in their communities while greatly enriching their personal and professional lives. The Greater Rochester Rotary Club (GRR) contains a diverse group of professional leaders from the community that the club serves. A Schmidt Goodman Commercial Interior Designer is a 10 year veteran of GRR and also sits on the board as Vocational Service Chair and Strive Steering Committee member.

Membership in GRR offers a number of benefits, including:

• Effecting change within the Rochester community.
• Developing leadership skills.
• Gaining an understanding of and having an impact on international humanitarian issues.
• Developing relationships with community and business leaders.

STRIVE is a program for high school seniors who have faced some academic challenges, but want to make the most of their last year of high school. Students who choose to participate in STRIVE are matched with an adult mentor from one of the Rochester Rotary Clubs. Mentors are not tutors, but are there to offer support, encouragement and assistance. Students and mentors meet once a month for about 50 minutes during the school day and talk about how school is going and what their plans are for the future. Meetings also include presentations on topics relevant to life after high school – college, careers, finances, etc.

The goal is for students to improve their grades and scholarships are awarded to those who show the most improvement in their GPA during the first three quarters. We have had 4 employees volunteer as mentors for this program.

We invite a broad section of our current customers to attend this Vendor Show, now in our 4th year, where we showcase new items. Manufacturer representatives are present to ask specific questions to and you're able to see and touch many items! A light lunch along with great prizes make this an event you won't want to miss!

A new direction in Golf Hole Sponsorship began when we took our camera to a few golf events we were participating in. It started with a few snapshots and lead us to full team photo shots complete with a frame for each golfer. Of course we aren't able to do this at every tournament, but have been having fun with the ones we have done.

Now starting our 3rd year of major sponsorship of this worthy toy drive effort lead by the Marine Corps, we are amazed at the generosity of many of our employees and customers as we filled our lobby with toys this past Holiday Season! Will you be up for the Corporate Challenge again? Please join us as we fill another truck with Toys For Tots this season.

We enjoy nice summer days as much as the next guy...so why not spend 3 of them each summer beautifying Rochester's landscape? This is our first year of "Ditch Maintenance" on 18th Avenue NW and it's been a great team building experience.

It's our 3rd year of being the Sponsor for the Honker's Fan Service Center! (The spot you go to pick up good stuff if you're a lucky fan winning a prize during a night at the ballpark!)
